With a discreet and elegant design, the VTX M series incorporates the acclaimed neodymium woofers Differential Drive, the high frequency D2 transducers with double diaphragm and a new high frequency waveguide (Image Control Waveguide) to offer excellent control and gain before of feedback. The VTX M line consists of two models: the VTX M20 and the VTX M22. The VTX M20 features dual 10 "woofers and a 3" D2 compression engine, while the VTX M22 features dual 12 "woofers and a 3" D2 compression engine. The M Series high-frequency section utilizes the D2430 dual 3-inch compression driver, which is also found in JBL’s large-format VTX V25-II line array system. The D2 driver is coupled with a newly developed 60 x 60 degree high frequency waveguide that has a unique shape, specifically tailored to M Series for stage monitoring applications. The new waveguide is based on JBL’s Image Control Waveguide, a technology originally developed for the M2 Master Reference studio monitor. Coupled with the D2 Driver, it delivers a coverage pattern that is spatially consistent.

The VTX M series woofers utilize JBL's patented Differential Drive technology, allowing excellent heat dissipation, low distortion and very high power. These Neodymium Differential Drive woofers feature dual 3 "coils, which is more than twice the area of the coil compared to traditional designs. One of the best features of this design is its surprising low weight, which makes the M series is among the lightest in its category, with half the weight of many references of other brands. The two woofers are supported by a bass-reflex enclosure with a large low frequency port, which allows the system to reproduce low frequencies up to 50Hz with minimum noise and turbulence.

The M series allows operation modes of both dual channel (biamplified) and single channel (passive), which can be configured in the section of easily accessible switches. This significantly reduces the cost per mix, allowing the M series to be the ideal solution for a much larger audience. When we select the single channel mode (passive), an internal passive network is activated that allows users to amplify the M series with a single amplification channel, thus reducing the overall amplification requirements. Unlike typical passive monitors, the M series distributes the responsibilities of the box preset between the amplifier's DSP and the internal passive network. The external DSP is responsible for correcting the frequency response, the linearization of the phase response and the protection of the components, while the internal network is only responsible for the high pass and low pass filters. The combination of the internal and external process recreates a biamplified acoustic box preset, but using only one amplification channel. The frequency, phase response and maximum output power of the M series are identical in both bi-amplified and passive modes.

The M Series splits the speaker preset responsibilities between the amplifier DSP and the internal passive network. The external DSP is responsible for frequency response correction, phase response linearization and component protection, while the internal network is only responsible for the component high-pass and low-pass filters. The combination of the internal and external processing recreates a typical bi-amplified loudspeaker preset while only using one amplifier channel. Like all other JBL VTX products, the M series is exclusively powered by Crown ITech HD DSP-based stages, allowing excellent performance and consistency worldwide. In single-channel mode, a single Crown 4x3500HD amplifier can power up to 8 M-Series monitors (in four separate monitor mixes), creating a compact monitoring system of excellent value.

The revolutionary D2 Dual Driver dramatically improves the sound and performance of high frequencies, providing an extreme output advantage over conventional systems with significantly higher array power, reduced distortion, double the number of voice coils and more than double the power handling. This results in a dramatic increase in pure high frequency sound pressure levels in the same physical footprint with a 30% reduction in weight.

Enhanced Performance and Dramatically Reduced Driver Weight

JBL’s exclusive dual voice coil, dual magnetic gap Differential Drive technology is at the core of all VTX models, dramatically reducing driver weight while greatly enhancing all critical performance parameters: frequency response, power output and distortion.

Elegant, low-profile, compact design, suitable for use on concert tours and during television shows

Top-class JBL pickups, including Differential Drive woofers and D2 tweeters with a double membrane and coil

Tertiary waveguide providing coverage 60 x 60 degrees, made in JBL's patented Image Control Waveguide technology

The choice of single-channel operation mode (passive bandwidth distribution) or two-channel operation (bi-amp) ensures maximum flexibility of system configuration and installation
